Is your semi-truck performing the regeneration more frequently during idling or even driving? Your after-treatment system might need an inspection and cleaning.
In order to combat toxic fumes, the modern semi-trucks adopted a range of exhaust treatment processes. While it is a very good solution in combating nitrous fumes and other toxic gases, the system needs cleaning and maintenance every 250 to 400 thousand miles. If not performed on time, the system might get clogged and stop functioning the right way, which will impact your MPG and engine longevity.
Our mechanics will remove your exhaust filter system and send it into a specialized filter cleaning service. Once in service, the filters are baked at a very high temperature to remove all the excess soot, and test the filters under pressure to check the system for proper flow and leaks.
In some cases, we might discover your filters have leaks or damage, and we might need to order brand new filters from the national dealers.
First, the DPF filter goes through a high-pressure, high-volume air venting to loosen and remove ash and soot stuck inside the filter channels. After this, we check the amount of flow passing through the system to see if the filter needs to be high-temperature baked so that all the extra soot is still present can be baked off and removed.
Once high-temperature baking and flow is restored, the DPF filter will go through a leak test to see if there is any other damage on the filter.
Only then the filter can be reinstalled on your semi-truck with brand new gaskets.
